Manley Board of Trustees meets the 2ND Thursday of the month in the Community Building at 7PM.  The next one is tomorrow, THURSDAY, 3/9/2017.   AS ALWAYS, THIS MEETING IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AND ALL RESIDENTS!

*PILLAGE THE VILLAGE 2017 WILL BE HELD ON AUGUST 19TH NEXT YEAR!  MARK YOU CALENDARS!  WE WILL NEED HELP RUNNING THIS EVENT AS IT’S THE 10TH ANNUAL PLUS IT’S NEBRASKA’S 150th ANNIVERSARY!!!  WE ARE HOPING FOR A GREAT EVENT AND PLANNING RIGHT NOW!  PLEASE GET BEHIND THIS EVENT AND SUPPORT IT!  We will be having our regular kick ball tourney, craft show, & Firebarn breakfast as well as our new car show!  This year, we will be adding a talent contest!  Singers, dancers, gymnasts, martial artists, musicians, magicians and others are welcome to showcase their talents!  We are looking for vendors/crafters/artists etc plus car show enthusiasts!

*OUR TORNADO SIREN WILL SOUND THE FIRST SATURDAY OF EACH MONTH BETWEEN 11AM AND 11:30AM.

*School is in session!  Please obey all traffic laws!  People who run the stop signs here in the Village are subject to having their license plates posted in the newsletter.  The Nebraska State Patrol has been notified and asked to assist with the patrol of the Village of Manley due to the absence of the Cass Co. Sheriff’s office and a shortage of County Deputies at this time.

*Do you need to dig in your yard???  It is a Federal law that you must first call before you dig!!  Also, if you are planning to build, add to, remove, or move a structure, you must talk to the Village Zoning Administrator, Betty Meyer PRIOR to starting the project!  This includes fencing, shed, house, patio, garage and other structures, INSIDE AS WELL AS OUTSIDE.

*Need a place to hold your next meeting, shower or seminar?  The Manley Community Building is for rent!  For more info and to schedule an event, contact Jolene Dalton, Village Clerk at the office.  Parking for events is on the WEST side of the street only!  Signs for this and for the parking at the Catholic Church will be secured so we don’t block residents or emergency vehicles.

Did you know that ALL advertising for Pillage the Village comes from the Cass County Tourism Board???  We are extremely grateful for this grant!

The Village Board met Monday evening, Feb 20th to begin a community attitude survey.  This survey will help the Village obtain grants for funding several projects and we are asking for your assistance.  If the surveys come your way, PLEASE fill them out and return them.  The surveys ask a variety of questions to ascertain whether the village can raise the funds on their own thru the taxpayers or whether grants are available.  The ONLY way we will qualify for any grants is for 100% participation.  If someone refuses to participate, the board will have to look at ALL other avenues and resources to come up with the money.

Sunday, Feb 26th, the Village Board planned a Bunco Tourney and casserole dinner.  Mickey and Jolene Dalton, Tim & Laura Glas, Barb Merrifield and Fr. Tom showed up.  We were treated to stories of Fr. Tom’s previous parish experiences.  It was a nice and relaxing time.  If you missed it…….well……..you missed it.

Our Village Clerk, Jolene Dalton has been approved to go to Clerk school from March 20 to 24!  She will be out of the office that week.  A grant has already been secured to pay for part of it and the Board is looking into other grants to finalize the cost.

ANIMAL LICENSING FOR THE VILLAGE OF MANLEY

All pets must be licensed within the Village limits.  The deadline is March 15th.   Special use permits for other animals are also required.  If you have questions, please contact Jolene at the Village Clerk’s office.
