*School is in session!  Please obey all traffic laws!  People who run the stop signs here in the Village are subject to having their license plates posted in the newsletter.  The Nebraska State Patrol has been notified and asked to assist with the patrol of the Village of Manley due to the absence of the Cass Co. Sheriff’s office and a shortage of County Deputies at this time.

*Do you need to dig in your yard???  It is a Federal law that you must first call before you dig!!  Also, if you are planning to build, add to, remove, or move a structure, you must talk to the Village Zoning Administrator, Betty Meyer PRIOR to starting the project!  This includes fencing, shed, house, patio, garage and other structures.

*Need a place to hold your next meeting, shower or seminar?  The Manley Community Building is for rent!  Downstairs/Kitchen (up to 25 people) is $50.  The whole building is $100.  For more info and to schedule an event, contact Jolene Dalton, Village Clerk at the office.  Parking for events is on the WEST side of the street only!  Signs for this and for the parking at the Catholic Church will be secured so we don’t block residents or emergency vehicles.

Did you know that ALL advertising for Pillage the Village comes from the Cass County Tourism Board???  We are extremely grateful for this grant!

An upgrade to the electrical system at the Community Center has also been completed!  There was also several complaints about property owners not maintaining their yards.  Trash & Recycle Cans do not belong on the village roads.  When they are emptied, please take them back to your home away from the roads.  Excessive weeds and large containers were the problems.  If your water meter does not work, please contact the village office to notify us.  If we already know about it, the water commissioner is working on a replacement.

THE 2016 ELECTION IS NOW COMPLETE.  Thank you to Dawn Holdorf for serving the Village for the past 4 years.  The Village Board is extremely grateful for your countless volunteer hours and positive attitude during your service to the community.  You will be missed and hope/pray that you will continue to volunteer.

Congratulations to Denise Swenson, Mickey Dalton and Adam Zeirott for your election to the Board of Trustees of the Village of Manley.  Also, the Board voted to retain Betty Meyer as Chairperson/Mayor and Denise Swenson as Vice-Chairman of the Board.

The board recognizes the citizens of Manley and their opinions, however, those opinions need to be voiced at the Board meeting to get something accomplished.  If you have something to say about or to the board, please GO TO THE MEETING!!!  The Village is NOT a neighborhood association, but a part of the Government and must follow and adhere to certain regulations and ordinances that were enacted prior or during them serving that previous boards may or may not have done.

LAST SHOW OF THE 2016 SEASON!!!

"Twas the Night Before Christmas"  December 3 - 18

Twas the Night Before Christmas” at Lofte Theatre

Manley, NE [November 22, 2016] - The Lofte Community Theatre near Manley is ready to help get you into the holiday spirit. Their December production, “Twas the Night Before Christmas” opens on Saturday, December 3 at 7:30pm.

“Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.” But, wait! A mouse is stirring - because Santa missed his house last year. Before you can say, “Merry Christmas!” we’re off on the wild adventures of a mouse, an elf and a spunky little girl who just won’t take, “No,” for an answer.

This script is a modern-day treatment of the traditional 19th century classic tale. Together a mouse named Amos and his human friend, Emily embark upon a journey to visit Santa Claus. Directed by Kevin Colbert, this energetic holiday tale will see the characters engage in a sword fight, a squirt gun battle and a perilous airplane ride. This show is specifically styled to appeal to our younger audience members, but children of all ages will enjoy this holiday romp.

Amos the mouse is played by Lofte newcomer Austin J. Brady of Lincoln. His human friend Emily is played by Shakeida Bullis of Bellevue. Rounding out the cast of colorful characters are Greg Leger and Doug Rothgeb of Omaha and Keri Hogue of Elmwood.

In coordination with this production, the Lofte is holding a special fundraiser where children of all ages can meet Santa and the rest of the cast. You will have the opportunity to eat a catered lunch right on stage, visit with Santa and even get your picture taken with the Jolly Old Elf himself. This special luncheon is being held at noon prior to our three Sunday matinees. Advance reservations are required. This would be a great multi-generational family event or company outing. Tickets to the luncheon are just $20.

Production dates for the show are December 3, 4, 8, 9, 10, 11, 16, 17 and 18. All seats are just $19. Those interested can call the Lofte box office at 402.234.2553 for reservations.
